RPI won a thrilling match against Bowling Green. Bryan Brutlag scored 20 seconds into overtime to lead the RPI Engineers hockey team to a thrilling 3-2 victory over Bowling Green State University in the championship game of the 60th Annual Rensselaer Invitational at Houston Field House on Saturday night.
The Falcons (6-10) knotted the game at two with only 10 seconds remaining in the final period when David Solway scored off a pass from Brett Mohler.
Senior forward Tyler Helfrich and sophomore defenseman Nick Bailen tallied second period goals to give RPI (7-3-3) an early 2-0 lead before Bowling Green’s Jordan Samuels-Thomas put the Falcons within one heading into the third period.
